Marianne, Trudy, Shauna and Michele lead a team of receptionists in Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay Surgeries.

Our reception team provide an important link for patients with the practice and is your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patients' appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as generating repeat prescriptions, dealing with prescription enquiries, patient registrations, house visit requests, dealing with patients' request for records etc.,

Sandra's role involves supporting the GP's in their day to day medicine-related tasks such as:

• Issuing acute prescriptions where it is appropriate to continue treatment.
• Reviewing repeat medicines to ensure they can be continued safely.
• Updating repeat medicines following changes on discharge from a hospital clinic review appointment.
• Providing advice to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals on the safe and effective use of medicines.
• Carrying out medicine reviews with patients, particularly those taking lots of medicines every day.
• Ensuring patients get the recommended treatment for their condition which also makes best use of NHS Fife resources.

Sandra's working hours vary throughout the week but she will be in the Practice every day and can be contacted by leaving a message with Reception Staff.

Community midwives run our antenatal clinics on Fridays at Inverkeithing Medical Centre and on Tuesdays at Dalgety Bay Medical Centre. If you have had a positive pregnancy test or think you are pregnant, please contact the midwives directly on 01383 623623 ext 23833. There is no need to see a GP to be referred.  The midwives will discuss your choices, early pregnancy care, place of delivery and offer advice on healthy lifestyle. They will also arrange appropriate hospital referrals. Subsequent appointments for antenatal care can be booked by phoning 01383 413234.

District nurses care for patients in the community. Their sphere of work includes wound care, specialised nursing procedures, cardiovascular and diabetic care, and nursing care of housebound patients.

The team comprises of Health Visitors (2 x Full-time &  2 x part time), a Healthcare Support Worker (part time) and a Community Nursery Nurse (part time). The Team also has pre-registration nursing students who are doing their training for short periods of time. Health visitors undertake further training to enable them to work with communities and individuals, helping people to have and keep the best health possible. They do this mostly by visiting at home. They also work with playgroups and nurseries (e.g. supporting staff to ensure children get the most from pre-school education). Other members of the team support this work in a variety of ways so may also visit you at home; we no longer operate in clinic settings.  The Health Visiting team follow the national Health Visiting pathway system, which includes routine health and development checks. Parents have open access to the Health Visiting team out with routine reviews for support and advice.
